Our neighbor Jean McCauley passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 27th. Jean was a true Maine lady, beautiful, dignified, reserved. She spoke little, listened well. I could aways imagine being in a classroom with Mrs.McCauley as my teacher. I would respect her, learn how to love books, write complete sentences, and rememmber her always. And here as my neighbor she was sweet. When we came back to PBV every January, the minute I saw her, she would thank me for my Christmas card. When I was getting my kitchen together after the flood, she offered little kitchen utensils I couldn't find, such as a can opener. She loved our monthly birthday lunches at the Ocean Grill. I shall miss Jean. I shall remember her always.

Dear Pebble Beach Villas Friends,
It is with sadness I am writing to let you know that Sylvia has just passed away, peacefully, without pain and with her three children and her granddaughter by her side.
Bette |
|
Thank you Bette. I am so glad that you and I had a sort minute to see our dear friend and I will always hold dear her wave and smile to us as they were loading her into the ambulance. Sylvia looked her beautiful self and I will always think of her in that glimpse of time.

Maddie, I will also never forget those last moments wiith Sylvia! A tiny miracle!

Sylvia was my next door neighbor at Pebble Beach Villas in B-15. She was also a very close neighbor for many years where I live in Gladwyne, PA. Unfortunately, I didn't know her when she lived in Gladwyne on Norsam Road, only a few minutes from my home on Dodds Lane. Norsam Road was beautifully adorned with a passageway of dogwoods in the spring. She always would ask me how they were doing! Her daughter attended the same high school in Gladwyne as my two daughters.
We always had a lot to share during our visits and I appreciated her artistic talent. It was a pleasure to get to see her artwork both completed and in process. I was thankful to see her in February of 2022 when we were in Vero. She bravely climbed the stairs to have dinner in B-15 with her two daughters. We were able to share a hug and some memories of our visits. She is also one of the few owners today, along with Eleanor Ulrich, who still remember my parents and original owners of B-16, Kay and Pat Boyle.
Her family will be in my thoughts and prayers,
Carolyn Bovaird |

I’m so sorry to hear this. I just got to meet her and what a lovely person she was! My husband helped her with her hurricane shutters back in October and we had a very nice conversation. Our condolences to the family. Sylvia was beautiful soul

Sylvia was the first person I met on my first day as a Pebble Beach Villas resident. I was sitting by the pool with a book. She pulled a chair over, looked at me with her beautiful smile, introduced herself, and from that minute I had a lifelong friend. I loved our long conversations by the pool, our Tuesday night dinners at Panera’s followed by a movie, our Saturday afternoons at the Majestic MET Operas, viewing her latest work of art, our wonderful dinners together with our friends at the Papageorge’s, and our last good-by, waving and throwing kisses as she left PBV.

'Tis an honor to be invited by Jim & Maddie
to the annual supper celebrating good 'ole St. Paddy The meal is always divine And the company is most fine Thus our gratitude is truly most hearty!
Thank you to everyone who pitched in to make the event happen -- with an extra special nod to Robin,

Lynne and McCrea Clan,
We loved your limerick and are so happy your enjoyed last night. Its always fun to celebrate together. It was great seeing your Mom. Robin was truly our leader this year, she found our caterer and she created our Bread Pudding Recipe and she even attempted to keep me on track. She is amazing and a big thank you goes to Robin. Several people asked me who our caterer was this year, it was Pepper and Salt on Old Dixie, south of 4th street. They have a restaurant and catering service and they are known for their beef brisket. We want to thank everyone who helped this year, setting up and cleaning up. Many hands make light work of the hardiest tasks. It is wonderful to live in a community of fun and caring people. Thanks again and it was fun seeing so many last night. Maddie |

It's with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nick (Mele); he died peacefully in his sleep at home with his family early on March 4, 2023.
Nick was a truly gifted and accomplished musician (guitar, mandolin banjo, flute & trombone) and those of you that were fortunate enough to listen to him play for various events at PBV will remember him well, often accompanied by Joanna on vocals and accordion and it made for a rare listening treat.
Walking past their front door you could often hear the sounds of familiar tunes and you knew that you were listening to something rare and beautiful.
PBV was a warm and welcoming place for Nick and for many wonderful years it was his second home with Joanna.
Nick was a kind and gentle man with a great sense of humour and he will be forever missed by his family and friends.
We will raise a gin and tonic (no lime) in your honour, shed a tear and wish you well on your voyage. Love you forever...

We will miss you Nick. We were neighbors and garage mates and got to know him as a quiet, gentle, smiling man with a kind word for everyone.
We loved hearing the happy music coming from their condo and especially loved when Nick and Joanna would play for all of us at the club house.
They were a perfect pair. Our prayers are with Joanna and all the family.
Love, Al and Joan |

It was with great sadness to hear of Nick’s passing. Kevin and I didn’t know him as long as most PBV residents but considered ourselves lucky to know him. He truly loved his wife—it was evident in everything he did for her and the extra things he did to make her happy. His talents will be missed and his humor was an addition to any gathering. The world was a better place because of Nick. Sincerely, Kevin and Barbara Kelly

So very sorry to hear of your loss. Nick was a kind and caring man who was also incredibly talented. Peter and I feel so glad to have known him and enjoyed many evenings in his company. Every get together was a celebration. He was a loving husband. I remember him bringing flowers to Joanna at the bridge table poolside for an impromptu birthday celebration. He will certainly be missed at PBV.

Beautifully said Lynne!!
They had no idea that their idle accordion playing, or guitar strumming, and beautiful piano music went beyond the confines of their home. It was a secret joy brought to a lot of us during those impromptu concerts. I do hope Joanna continues to spread joy upon us again when she returns.
Just a small addition to my first note to you Joann and Lou, Lynn's words inspired me and awakened my memory of the really wonderful joy that very frequently came from your parents home, we were truly blessed🙏

How I loved the sounds of music-making that wafted across the lawn around the E building! Nick and Joanna often treated us to an extemporaneous concert (whether they knew it or not) and it was always delightful. More than the music, though, what I loved most about Nick was the twinkle in his eyes. He seemed to always be smiling, casting joy. We are sending our warmest, caring thoughts to you, Joanna and family. Nick will be truly missed.
