| Jean Bauberger McCauley, 93, of Vero Beach, Florida and formerly of Surry, Maine, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 27, 2024. She was a beloved member of both communities leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Jean was born April 2, 1931 on Long Island, New York, to Charles and Mabel Arthur Bauberger. She grew up in Garden City, NY and graduated with a BA from Wells College and a Masters from Hofstra University. Jean taught first grade for 38 years in the Massapequa Union Free School District on Long Island. Jean was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Frank McCauley, Jr. on March 20, 2017. Jean’s life was characterized by her passion for boating, reading and needlepoint. In addition to her many summers in Maine, Jean enjoyed 25 years in Vero Beach, where she was a member of the Vero Beach Yacht Club. She was a kind and generous woman who cherished her close friends and family. Jean is survived by two nephews, John Stewart McCauley, Todd M. McCauley (his wife Melina Kuflik McCauley), and a niece Dr. Deborah McCauley (her husband David Loseff), and their 6 children who will all miss her dearly.
